Billy Joe Shaver garnered a 2007 GRAMMY nomination for Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel album! This is an amazing accomplishment for Billy Joe and Compadre Records!!!
Trent Willmon makes his silver screen debut in summer ’08 with the theatrical release of Palo Pinto Gold, a family friendly, action packed Western set in the late 1800’s, also starring Roy Clark, Mel Tillis and Kinky Freidman. Trent begins filming January in Texas and will contribute music to the movie’s soundtrack. A one-minute trailer for the film will be posted on www.palopintogold.com in the next month.

Music World Nabs Roots Indie Compadre

Mathew Knowles' Music World Entertainment has acquired Houston-based independent roots label, Compadre Records. Brad Turcotte will maintain his role as president of Compadre, and the label will continue to exist as an imprint through Music World, and will be distributed via Fontana. Terms of the deal were not announced.
Compadre, which has released albums from Billy Joe Shaver and James McMurty, among others, has also named former V2 staffer Kristie Vogel as its VP of promotion. Music World assumes control of Compadre's catalog, and, according to a statement, pledges to keep the label active.
